Celebrating the Impact – 2015-25

Founded in 2013, the Brady and Anne Deaton Institute for University Leadership in International Development has an aim to eliminate extreme poverty and food insecurity globally.

The end of hunger and extreme poverty is within the world’s reach. Those of us who support higher education can be proud of the critical part research and education have played in recent decades to reduce the human toll from these twin human tragedies. Continued progress requires continued knowledge breakthroughs from many disciplines and the Deaton Institute’s work from 2015-2025 has focused on fostering this interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Deaton Institute is pleased to share a report of its activities and impacts for the years 2015-2025. Highlights include the reach of the Deaton Scholars Program, a student program seeking to building interdisciplinary collaboration to address Sustainable Development Goals. Since launching in 2017, DSP has trained 712 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from all 12 colleges on the University of Missouri campus.
